(Memphis) On a stretch of South Lauderdale Street, also known as Willie Mitchell Boulevard, you’ll find a building where music is a family affair.

Lawrence ‘Boo’ Mitchell is the noted music producer and also the son of legendary producer Willie Mitchell who recorded Al Green’s biggest songs inside Royal Studios, “We cut records, a lot of times hit records.”
        
Besides cutting his own share of hits, Mitchell is excited about his family’s reunion with his cousin, who also happens to be Rap music superstar Drake. “Yeah, we hang out a lot(laughter).”
       
Drake is in concert Tuesday night bringing his Club Paradise Tour to FedExForum.

He grew up in Toronto, Canada with his mother, but his summers were spent in Memphis with his father and musician, Dennis Graham. “His father, Dennis Graham, told him if you sing and rap at the same time you’ll have it made and he did just that.”
           
Drake also spent his time hanging out inside Royal Studios. Boo Mitchell remembers talking with his father about the young rapper. “I was like Pop(Willie Mitchell) he’s clean-cut. He’s an All-American looking kid and if he catches on it’s going to be big.”
      
And big he his. Drake now has hit records, TV appearances, and sold out concerts.

But Mitchell says he’s not surprised by his cousin’s success, and he hopes they’ll one day make music together inside Royal Studios combining Drake’s Hip Hop with the Memphis Sound, “I would definitely love to record him in any context. Give him that Memphis sound with a live a band (laughter).”
